My dear professors,
Good morning, I am glad to be here for this interview. First of all, let me introduce myself. My name is ***, 21. I come from ***, Hubei province. I will graduate from China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) in July. And my major is ***.
My hometown is located in Jianghan plain, the middle south of Hubei. Jianghan plain has always enjoyed the reputation of being a “l(fā)and of fish and rice” and the Jianghan oil field is located in it. Benefiting from the surroundings where I grew up, I have showed a great interest in nature since I was a child. Due to this reason, I prefer the earth science than Economic and Social sciences as my major after college entrance examination.
Generally speaking, I am an open-minded, modest, hard work, positive person. In my spare time, I like running, table tennis and badminton. I also like reading all kinds of books, especially Chinese literature. Recently I have attended a course of traditional sinology. These activities not only relax me but also eich my knowledge.
During four years, I have learned some basic courses of Geosciences, such as general geology, mineralogy, petrology and so on. When I was a sophomore, I applied to serve as a guide of the Yifu Geology Museum and do a good job there. In summer holidays, we have the field geological practices in different places, like Zhoukoudian and Zigui. These practices provided me good opportunities to eich my practical skills as well as to travel different places. In the fields, geological phenomenon like fold, fault are everywhere, even the most ordinary rocks have experienced all kinds of complicated geological process. Geochemistry, which is a means of studying geology, provides us some microscope clues of geological phenomenon which we cannot find from the surface. I think that a geologist is just like a detective engaged in exploring some cases take place on the earth.
After four years, I realize that geology is a rigorous and profound discipline. The old generation dedicate to geology career with enthusiasm. Their spirits and knowledge impress me and make me aware of my shortage and innocence as well as my aspiration. That is why I need to pursue further studies.
Firstly, I always believe that one will easily lag behind unless he keeps on learning. So I struggle to keep learning in the time of information explosion. Furthermore, the institute of University of Science and Technology of China possesses the best professors and the best resources. She represents the highest level of geochemistry research.
If I could get the chance to study here, I will try my best to obtain new knowledge, professional skills and explore truth. I hope my efforts deserve your recognition.
